All Things Martide
The word 'update' spelt out on tiles on an orange background

If you’re a regular reader of the Martide blog you’ll already know that we like to summarize what our team - especially our developers and coders have been working on behind the scenes of our crewing software and maritime recruitment platform in recent months. And as the year draws to a close, we thought what better time to look back at what they got up to over Fall.

So from September through to the end of November, here’s what we’ve launched, implemented, tweaked and, yes, we admit it, fixed to make life easier for crew managers, manning agents, recruitment officers and seafarers alike.

Martide’s maritime recruitment and crewing software updates for Fall

Starting off with September, here’s a rundown of what our technical teams worked on.

September crewing system updates

For companies who use our crewing software and maritime recruitment functions:

  • We renamed the English Tests as Marlins English Language Test and Seagull Crew Evaluation System (CES).
  • On the Crew Change page there is now a button that allows you to export flight data.
  • It is now possible to extract Vessel, Assignment and Recruitment data from the API.
  • It is now possible to export all employment-related data from a seafarer’s profile.
  • On the Pipeline setting page you can now delete the ‘required before’ option if you choose.
  • You can now copy and paste dates in the system.
  • It is now a requirement to select a manning agent in a seafarer’s profile.
  • The Assessment Test section in a seafarer’s profile has been renamed Assessments.
  • We fixed the drag and drop function when you upload files and documents.
  • When a contract has been signed, the system will give you relevant Wage Scale options to select from.
  • It is now possible to export Wage Scale data into an Excel spreadsheet and download it.
  • Data Templates have been redesigned to make them more user friendly.
  • We fixed various bugs throughout the system for both crew managers and manning agents.

September seafarer job portal updates

And for seafarers who have created a Martide profile and use us to find and apply for jobs at sea:

  • You can now see custom documents, contracts and payslips in your profile.
  • You can now copy and paste dates in the system.
  • The Assessment Test section in your profile has been renamed Assessments.
  • We fixed the drag and drop function when you upload files and documents.

Clearly September was a busy month! Moving on to October and November, here’s what we changed, improved or tweaked.

October and November crew change software and seafarer recruitment updates

For manning agencies and crewing managers who use Martide to fill crewing vacancies and power their crew changes, we:

  • On the Seafarers page you can now download a seafarer’s Employment History.
  • We now also list the embarkation ID when you export a seafarer’s Employment History.
  • If you have created a Vessel Custom Contact you can now set this person as an assigned role in the Pipeline settings.
  • On the Embarkation section on a seafarer’s profile you can now delete promotions.
  • If your company has both employer and manning agency roles enabled, you can now create a vessel.
  • Seafarer profiles now allow you to set the type of bank account.
  • On the Documents page we have added the vessel name to the options when you are exporting data.
  • On the Vessels page we have added more options when you are exporting data. These are: vessel name, IMO, flag (this should be the name of the country), engine, Master onboard, Chief Officer onboard and engine type.

And for those who are looking for seafarer jobs and have a Martide account:

  • You can now set the type of bank account when filling in your banking details in your seafarer profile.

Now October and November might not look quite as busy as September and that’s because we’re working on some big projects and features which we’re not quite ready to tell you about yet.

But rest assured, we think that if you’re a crewing manager, recruitment officer or manning agent, you’re going to love them - if we say so ourselves!

Improvements to our crewing system software and maritime jobs site

As our company Changelog proves, we’re constantly working on improving our website and seafarer mobile app.

Our goal is to make Martide THE first port of call whether you’re looking for a maritime recruitment system that helps you source and embark seafarers, or a crewing software solution that helps you handle crew changes and travel arrangements seamlessly.

OR if you’re a seafarer who is looking for your next job at sea.

And with that in mind, did you know that if you’ve got any suggestions on how we can improve - whether it’s a little tweak, or an idea for a great new feature, you’re very welcome to get in touch with us and tell us all about it.

For small issues, you can always reach our Support team through our non-nonsense ticketing system where we’ll do our best to get back to you as quickly as possible. And for ideas and suggestions for features or functions, simply go to your profile icon when you’re logged into Martide, click on it and then on Suggest Feature in the drop down menu.

We’d love to hear from you and all suggestions are carefully considered for their feasibility and potential to provide added value for our users.

And although another year is nearly over, we’ll still be publishing our twice-weekly blog posts throughout the holiday season and you can expect regular updates on what changes we’ve made on the platform on our crewing software system Changelog - and another round up like this when winter is over - or at least when it’s over for us here at the Martide Blog HQ!
