Martide’s partners are currently hiring Wipers to join the engineering teams on various cargo ships and tankers. This role is a vital part of the engine room operations, supporting the maintenance, cleanliness, and efficient functioning of essential shipboard machinery. Wipers will work under the guidance of senior engineering staff, with opportunities to develop technical skills and gain experience for future career advancement in the maritime industry.

Key responsibilities generally include:

• Clean and maintain the engine room, machinery spaces, and adjoining areas to ensure a safe and orderly work environment.
• Assist in the inspection, cleaning, and lubrication of engines, pumps, valves, and other mechanical equipment.
• Support senior engineers and engine room personnel with maintenance and repair tasks as needed.
• Monitor engine room equipment for unusual sounds, leaks, or malfunctions and report issues to senior crew members.
• Handle and store cleaning materials, oils, and lubricants according to shipboard safety regulations.
• Participate in waste management procedures, including the correct disposal of oily rags and other engine room waste.
• Adhere to safety procedures, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Assist in maintaining accurate records of cleaning schedules, lubrication activities, and machinery inspections.
• Participate in emergency response drills and support emergency repairs as required during voyages.
• Follow instructions from senior engineers, chief engineers, and other supervisory personnel to support smooth engine room operations.
