Martide’s partners are looking for dedicated and hardworking Trainee Wipers to join their engineering teams aboard various cargo ships and tankers. This entry-level role offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the engine room, supporting the maintenance and operation of essential ship machinery. Trainee Wipers will work under the supervision of senior engineers and engine room personnel, contributing to the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of shipboard systems.

Key responsibilities generally include:

• Clean and maintain the engine room, machinery spaces, and associated areas to ensure a safe and tidy working environment.
• Assist in the inspection, cleaning, and lubrication of engine components, pumps, and auxiliary machinery.
• Support senior engineers with routine maintenance and repair tasks as directed.
• Monitor and report any abnormalities or malfunctions in engine room equipment to senior personnel.
• Handle and store cleaning supplies, tools, and lubricants according to safety and environmental guidelines.
• Participate in waste management procedures, including the proper disposal of oily rags and other waste materials.
• Comply with all onboard safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Assist in the preparation and maintenance of engine room logs and maintenance records.
• Support emergency operations and drills as required by the ship's safety protocols.
• Take part in on-the-job training to develop technical skills and a deeper understanding of shipboard engineering systems.
