Martide’s partners are seeking experienced and skilled Plumbers to join their technical teams aboard various cruise ships. This role is essential to ensuring the proper functioning and maintenance of the ship's plumbing, water, and sanitation systems. Plumbers are responsible for the repair, installation, and upkeep of water supply, drainage, and wastewater systems to ensure passenger and crew comfort and safety. Working under the supervision of the Chief Engineer or Facilities Manager, Plumbers play a key role in maintaining the operational efficiency of onboard water and sanitation systems.
Key responsibilities generally include:
- Plumbing System Maintenance & Repairs: Inspect, maintain, and repair plumbing systems, including fresh water, wastewater, drainage, and sanitation systems.
- Pipe Installation & Replacement: Install, replace, and repair pipes, valves, fittings, and fixtures for fresh water, greywater, and blackwater systems.
- Water Supply Management: Ensure the proper operation and flow of water supply systems, including hot and cold water supply lines, water tanks, and pressure systems.
- Sanitation System Support: Maintain and repair shipboard sewage, drainage, and waste disposal systems to ensure proper waste treatment and disposal.
- Leak Detection & Troubleshooting: Identify and repair leaks in water and wastewater systems, using specialized equipment and tools as required.
- Emergency Response: Respond to emergency plumbing issues, such as burst pipes, flooding, or system malfunctions, to prevent disruption to shipboard services.
- Preventive Maintenance: Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance to minimize system breakdowns and ensure continuous operation of plumbing and drainage systems.
- Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance: Follow maritime health, safety, and environmental regulations, ensuring compliance with onboard safety protocols and international standards.
- Equipment Maintenance & Calibration: Perform routine checks and basic maintenance on plumbing-related equipment, such as pumps, valves, and water heaters.
- Spare Parts & Inventory Management: Monitor and manage plumbing-related spare parts, tools, and consumables to ensure availability for repairs and emergency tasks.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections, supporting compliance with shipboard audits and inspections.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Chief Engineer, Facilities Manager, and other technical crew members to ensure smooth shipboard operations and timely issue resolution.
