Martide’s partners are seeking reliable and proactive Officer’s Assistants to join their teams aboard various merchant ships. This role is essential for supporting ship officers in the execution of daily operational, administrative, and safety-related tasks. Officer’s Assistants play a key role in maintaining smooth vessel operations, assisting with bridge, deck, and engine room duties, and supporting crew welfare. This is a versatile role that requires flexibility, attention to detail, and a willingness to work in a dynamic maritime environment.

Key responsibilities generally include:

• Administrative Support: Assist ship officers with administrative tasks, including record-keeping, logbook entries, and documentation related to shipboard operations.
• Bridge Support: Assist with bridge operations, including lookout duties, monitoring of navigational instruments, and support for passage planning and voyage execution.
• Deck Operations Support: Assist with deck-related activities, such as cargo handling, mooring, anchoring, and the preparation of cargo holds and storage areas.
• Maintenance & Cleaning: Support the maintenance and cleaning of work areas, ensuring a clean, safe, and hazard-free environment on deck, in crew quarters, and in communal areas.
• Equipment & Tool Handling: Support the preparation, use, and storage of tools and equipment required for deck, engine, and bridge operations.
• Safety & Emergency Preparedness: Participate in emergency drills, support the emergency response team, and assist in safety checks of emergency and life-saving equipment.
• Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance: Follow shipboard health, safety, and environmental protocols, ensuring compliance with international maritime regulations and company policies.
• Crew Support: Provide assistance to officers, deck crew, and engineering crew as required, supporting shipboard teamwork and operational efficiency.
• Assistance During Audits & Inspections: Support officers in preparing for shipboard audits, port state inspections, and regulatory compliance checks.
• Reporting & Communication: Relay instructions from senior officers to other crew members and support communication between departments to ensure smooth operational workflows.
