Martide’s partners are seeking skilled and dependable Motormen to join the engineering teams aboard various merchant ships. This role is essential for supporting the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems in the engine room. Motormen assist engineering officers in maintaining the performance and reliability of engines, pumps, compressors, and auxiliary systems that ensure the vessel operates efficiently and safely.

Key responsibilities generally include:

• Operation of Engine Room Machinery: Assist in the operation of main engines, auxiliary engines, generators, pumps, and compressors to ensure continuous vessel operations.
• Maintenance & Repairs: Support the inspection, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems, ensuring the proper functioning of engines, boilers, and auxiliary systems.
• System Monitoring: Monitor engine room systems and machinery during operation, recording performance data such as temperatures, pressures, and fluid levels, and reporting irregularities to senior engineers.
• Cleaning & Upkeep of Engine Room: Maintain cleanliness and organization in the engine room, reducing hazards and ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
• Equipment Inspections: Conduct routine checks on key mechanical systems, including pumps, pipes, valves, and electrical components, identifying potential faults before they escalate.
• Lubrication & Fuel Handling: Assist in oil changes, lubrication of moving parts, and fuel system maintenance, ensuring optimal performance and regulatory compliance.
• Safety & Environmental Compliance: Adhere to international maritime safety and environmental regulations, supporting the ship’s health, safety, and environmental protocols.
• Emergency Response: Participate in emergency drills and respond to real-time emergencies, such as engine failures, fires, and leaks, supporting the ship's emergency response team.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance, inspection, and repair activities, supporting compliance with the ship's planned maintenance system (PMS) and audit requirements.
• Spare Parts & Inventory Support: Assist in managing spare parts and consumable stock for engine room systems, ensuring essential materials are available for maintenance and repair.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, electricians, and deck officers to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the vessel’s mechanical and technical systems.
