Martide’s partners are seeking reliable and hardworking Messmen to join their hospitality teams aboard various merchant ships. This role is essential for maintaining cleanliness, supporting food service, and ensuring crew welfare in dining, galley, and accommodation areas. The Messman works under the supervision of the Chief Steward or Cook, assisting with meal service, cleaning, and general housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, hygienic, and comfortable living environment for crew members.

Key responsibilities generally include:

• Food Service Assistance: Support meal service, ensuring crew members are served promptly and dining areas remain clean and orderly.
• Table Setup & Clearing: Set up and clear dining tables before and after meals, ensuring proper table arrangements and cleanliness.
• Cleaning & Sanitation: Clean and sanitize dining areas, galley, and crew common areas, including mess rooms, recreation areas, and corridors.
• Dishwashing & Utensil Cleaning: Wash and sanitize dishes, cutlery, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment to maintain a clean and efficient galley operation.
• Accommodation Cleaning: Assist in cleaning and maintaining crew cabins, living quarters, and public areas to ensure a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for crew welfare.
• Linen & Laundry Management: Handle the collection, cleaning, and distribution of crew linens, including bedding, towels, and uniforms.
• Garbage Disposal & Waste Management: Support the safe disposal of food waste and general garbage, following shipboard waste management protocols and environmental regulations.
• Restocking Supplies: Replenish dining and galley supplies such as plates, cutlery, cups, napkins, and cleaning products, ensuring items are available as needed.
• Health, Safety & Hygiene Compliance: Adhere to shipboard health, safety, and hygiene protocols, ensuring all food handling and cleaning activities comply with maritime safety standards.
• Assistance to Senior Crew Members: Provide general assistance to the Chief Steward, Cook, and senior officers as required, supporting daily hospitality operations.

Housekeeping Duties: Carry out cleaning and general housekeeping tasks in accommodation areas, communal spaces, and recreation rooms to maintain a clean and safe environment for crew members.
