Martide’s partners are seeking hardworking and reliable Messboys to join their hospitality teams aboard various merchant ships. This role plays a key part in maintaining cleanliness, supporting food service, and ensuring crew welfare in dining, galley, and accommodation areas. Messboys work under the supervision of the Chief Steward or Cook to assist with meal preparation, cleaning, and general housekeeping duties.

Key responsibilities generally include:

• Dining Area Support: Set up and clear dining tables for crew meals, ensuring cleanliness and proper table arrangements.
• Food Service Assistance: Assist with serving meals and supporting the galley team in meal preparation, plating, and portioning as required.
• Cleaning & Sanitation: Clean and sanitize the mess hall, galley, and crew accommodation areas, including floors, surfaces, and furniture.
• Dishwashing & Kitchen Cleaning: Wash dishes, kitchen utensils, and cooking equipment, ensuring the galley remains clean, sanitary, and operational at all times.
• Linen & Laundry Support: Assist with the cleaning, collection, and distribution of crew linens, ensuring hygiene and timely rotation of bedding and towels.
• Garbage Disposal & Waste Management: Support the disposal of food waste and garbage from the mess and galley, ensuring compliance with shipboard waste management protocols.
• Restocking & Supply Management: Replenish dining room supplies such as cutlery, plates, cups, and condiments, ensuring all areas remain fully stocked.
• Health, Safety & Hygiene Compliance: Follow health, safety, and environmental regulations on board, ensuring proper hygiene in food handling and cleaning procedures.
• Assistance to Senior Crew Members: Provide general assistance to the Chief Steward, Cook, and other senior hospitality staff as required.
• Housekeeping Support: Support the cleaning of communal areas, including recreation rooms, corridors, and crew living spaces, to maintain a safe and hygienic living environment.
