Martide’s partners are seeking skilled and proactive Mechanical Operators to join their engineering teams aboard their various cargo ships and tankers. This role is essential for the smooth operation, maintenance, and repair of key shipboard mechanical systems. Mechanical Operators support the day-to-day functioning of engines, pumps, compressors, hydraulic systems, and other critical equipment that ensures the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.

Key responsibilities generally include:

  • Operation of Mechanical Systems: Monitor and operate main engines, auxiliary engines, generators, pumps, compressors, and other mechanical equipment to support vessel operations.
    • Equipment Maintenance & Repairs: Assist in the routine maintenance, inspection, and repair of mechanical systems, ensuring continuous functionality and operational efficiency.
      • System Monitoring: Conduct regular checks on the performance of mechanical equipment, recording key metrics such as pressure, temperature, and fluid levels, and reporting any abnormalities.
        • Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems: Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in cargo handling, mooring, and shipboard operations.
          • Safety & Compliance: Adhere to shipboard health, safety, and environmental standards, supporting compliance with international maritime regulations and company policies.
            • Emergency Response Support: Respond to emergencies, such as system failures, leaks, or malfunctions, ensuring rapid intervention to minimize operational disruption.
              • Spare Parts & Tools Management: Support the management of spare parts and tools, ensuring essential components are available for routine and emergency maintenance.
                • Cleaning & Upkeep of Engine Room: Assist in maintaining cleanliness and order within the engine room, reducing hazards and ensuring a safe working environment.
                  • Record-Keeping & Documentation: Maintain accurate logs of maintenance tasks, inspections, and system performance, supporting the ship's planned maintenance system (PMS) and regulatory compliance.

                    Team Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, electricians, and deck officers to support daily shipboard operations and ensure the efficient functioning of vessel systems.
