Martide’s partners are seeking experienced maritime professionals to fill various ranks and positions aboard LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) carriers. Crew members play a vital role in ensuring the safe transport of hazardous cargo, while maintaining vessel integrity, operational efficiency, and compliance with international maritime regulations. Positions are available in deck, engine, and bridge departments, each with distinct responsibilities to support the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.

Key Responsibilities and Duties (varies by role and rank):

Deck Crew (Able Seafarers, Deckhands, Bosun)

  • Assist in the loading, transfer, and discharge of liquefied gas cargo, following safety and operational procedures.
    • Handle and maintain cargo transfer hoses, manifolds, and connection points during cargo operations.
      • Monitor and inspect cargo containment systems, valves, and pipelines to identify leaks or mechanical issues.
        • Support mooring and unmooring operations during port calls, ensuring safe handling of mooring lines.
          • Carry out deck maintenance, including cleaning, painting, rust removal, and maintenance of cargo-related equipment.
            • Follow health and safety protocols, wear PPE, and participate in emergency response drills.

              Engineering Crew (Wipers, Motormen, Engineers, Chief Engineer)

              • Operate, maintain, and repair the ship's propulsion systems, power generation, and auxiliary machinery.
                • Support the operation and maintenance of cargo handling systems, including compressors, pumps, and valves.
                  • Monitor and maintain cargo containment, pressurization, and cooling systems to ensure safe and efficient transport of liquefied gases.
                    • Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance on hydraulic, pneumatic, and cryogenic systems critical for cargo operations.
                      • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, such as MARPOL standards on emissions, bilge water, and waste management.
                        • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic failures to avoid delays and operational failures.
                          • Manage spare parts inventory, ensuring the availability of essential repair components.

                            Bridge Crew (Watch Officers, 2nd Officer, Chief Officer, Captain)

                            • Oversee safe navigation, passage planning, and watchkeeping in compliance with international maritime regulations.
                              • Supervise cargo loading, discharging, and inerting operations in accordance with the IGC (International Gas Carrier) Code.
                                • Coordinate and oversee ballasting and de-ballasting operations to maintain vessel stability during cargo handling.
                                  • Coordinate with terminal operators, port authorities, and pilots to ensure smooth berthing, cargo transfer, and departure.
                                    • Conduct safety briefings, risk assessments, and emergency response drills for the crew.
                                      • Ensure compliance with ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL, and company safety management system (SMS) standards.
                                        • Monitor vessel security as per the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.

                                          General Responsibilities (All Ranks and Positions)

                                          • Follow all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols, especially regarding hazardous cargo handling.
                                            • Participate in emergency response drills, including firefighting, gas leak containment, and man-overboard procedures.
                                              • Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and safe working conditions on board.
                                                • Ensure compliance with maritime laws, including the International Gas Carrier (IGC) Code, to guarantee safe cargo transport.
                                                  • Handle the physical and mental demands of working in a confined, hazardous, and highly regulated environment.
                                                    • Foster teamwork, accountability, and professionalism to support smooth vessel operations.
