Martide’s partners are seeking experienced maritime professionals to fill various ranks and positions aboard LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) carriers. Crew members play a vital role in ensuring the safe transport of LNG, while maintaining vessel integrity, operational efficiency, and strict compliance with international maritime regulations. Positions are available in deck, engine, and bridge departments, each responsible for supporting the vessel's safe, efficient, and regulatory-compliant operations.

Key Responsibilities and Duties (varies by role and rank):

Deck Crew (Able Seafarers, Deckhands, Bosun)

  • Assist in the safe loading, transfer, and discharge of liquefied natural gas cargo according to industry standards and operational protocols.
    • Handle and maintain cargo transfer hoses, manifolds, and connection points during cargo transfer operations.
      • Monitor and inspect cargo containment systems, pipelines, valves, and connections to detect any signs of leaks or mechanical issues.
        • Support vessel mooring, unmooring, and berthing operations at ports and offshore terminals.
          • Carry out routine deck maintenance, such as cleaning, rust removal, painting, and the upkeep of deck equipment.
            • Participate in emergency response drills, including firefighting, gas leak containment, and evacuation procedures.
              • Follow health, safety, and environmental protocols, wear PPE, and report safety hazards to senior crew members.

                Engineering Crew (Wipers, Motormen, Engineers, Chief Engineer)

                • Operate, maintain, and repair ship propulsion, power generation, and auxiliary systems.
                  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of cargo containment systems, including cryogenic tanks, valves, compressors, and pumps.
                    • Monitor and maintain cargo handling equipment, such as reliquefaction systems and boil-off gas (BOG) management systems.
                      • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and cryogenic systems used for LNG handling.
                        • Ensure compliance with MARPOL regulations regarding emissions, bilge water, and waste management.
                          • Conduct preventive maintenance on critical equipment to avoid delays and ensure operational readiness.
                            • Manage the inventory of spare parts, tools, and emergency repair components.

                              Bridge Crew (Watch Officers, 2nd Officer, Chief Officer, Captain)

                              • Oversee the safe navigation, voyage planning, and watchkeeping in compliance with international maritime regulations.
                                • Supervise cargo loading, discharging, and inerting operations, ensuring strict adherence to the IGC (International Gas Carrier) Code.
                                  • Coordinate and oversee ballasting and de-ballasting operations to maintain vessel stability during cargo handling.
                                    • Work closely with terminal operators, port authorities, and pilots to ensure smooth berthing, cargo transfer, and port departure.
                                      • Conduct safety briefings, risk assessments, and emergency response drills with the crew.
                                        • Ensure compliance with ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL, and the ship's safety management system (SMS).
                                          • Monitor vessel security and access control in accordance with the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.

                                            General Responsibilities (All Ranks and Positions)

                                            • Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols, particularly regarding hazardous LNG cargo handling.
                                              • Participate in emergency response drills, including firefighting, gas leak response, and man-overboard procedures.
                                                • Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and safe working conditions in all areas of the ship.
                                                  • Ensure compliance with maritime regulations, including the International Gas Carrier (IGC) Code, to guarantee safe cargo transport.
                                                    • Handle the physical and mental demands of working in confined spaces, under hazardous conditions, and during extended periods at sea.
                                                      • Foster teamwork, accountability, and professionalism to support smooth vessel operations.
