Martide’s partners are seeking experienced and reliable Key Able Seamen (AB) to join their deck teams aboard cargo ships and tankers. This role is essential to the daily operations, maintenance, and safety of the vessel. Key Able Seamen work under the direction of deck officers and the Bosun to support navigation, cargo handling, and shipboard maintenance tasks. They play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the ship while supporting emergency response activities as required.

Key responsibilities generally include:

• Watchkeeping Duties: Stand watch as a lookout, helmsman, or part of the bridge support team, assisting with the safe navigation and maneuvering of the vessel.
• Cargo Handling: Assist with the safe loading, stowage, and unloading of cargo, ensuring it is properly secured according to cargo plans and operational guidelines.
• Deck Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, chipping, painting, and repairing decks, hulls, and shipboard structures.
• Mooring & Unmooring: Support mooring and anchoring operations, including handling mooring lines, heaving lines, and securing the vessel in port or at anchor.
• Rigging & Lifting: Operate and maintain rigging equipment, winches, cranes, and other lifting devices used in cargo and shipboard operations.
• Safety Equipment Checks: Conduct inspections of firefighting, life-saving, and emergency equipment to ensure all gear is functional, properly stowed, and ready for use.
• Emergency Response: Participate in emergency drills and respond to real-time emergencies, such as fire, flooding, and man-overboard incidents, as part of the emergency response team.
• Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Compliance: Adhere to international maritime regulations and shipboard health, safety, and environmental policies, ensuring safe working conditions at all times.
• General Seamanship Duties: Handle ropes, fenders, gangways, and other shipboard gear, supporting daily ship operations and ensuring smooth berthing, unberthing, and port activities.
• Reporting & Documentation: Maintain records of maintenance, cargo operations, and emergency drills, supporting compliance with ship and regulatory requirements.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with deck officers, engineers, and fellow crew members to support daily shipboard operations and achieve operational goals.
