Martide’s partners are looking for motivated and detail-oriented Junior Surveyors to join their survey and research vessels. This role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in marine surveying, supporting the collection, processing, and analysis of hydrographic, geophysical, and environmental data. Working under the guidance of senior surveyors and research officers, Junior Surveyors play a key role in supporting oceanographic research, offshore exploration, and environmental monitoring.

Key responsibilities generally include:

• Survey Planning & Operations: Assist in the preparation, setup, and execution of survey operations, supporting hydrographic, geophysical, and environmental data collection.
• Data Collection & Recording: Operate survey equipment such as multibeam echosounders, side-scan sonars, and sub-bottom profilers, ensuring accurate and high-quality data collection.
• Data Processing & Quality Control: Support the processing, cleaning, and validation of raw survey data, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of final outputs.
• Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Assist in the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of survey equipment, ensuring all instruments are operational and ready for deployment.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of survey activities, equipment use, and data collection processes to support compliance, audits, and reporting requirements.
• Software Utilization: Use industry-standard survey software for data processing, analysis, and visualization, supporting the production of detailed survey charts and maps.
• Safety & Environmental Compliance: Adhere to maritime health, safety, and environmental protocols, following onboard safety procedures and best practices.
• Collaborative Research: Work closely with surveyors, scientists, and technical crew to support multidisciplinary research and achieve project goals.
• Navigation Support: Assist in vessel positioning and navigation support to ensure accurate survey tracks, using GPS, GNSS, and other positioning systems.
• Continuous Learning & Development: Stay updated on new survey technologies, techniques, and best practices to enhance technical skills and career growth.
