Martide’s partners are seeking dedicated and responsible Junior Officers to join their deck teams aboard cargo ships, bulk carriers, and tankers. This position plays a key role in supporting the safe navigation, cargo handling, and overall operational efficiency of the vessel. Under the supervision of senior officers, Junior Officers are responsible for assisting with watchkeeping, safety inspections, and shipboard documentation.

Key responsibilities generally include:

• Bridge Watchkeeping: Serve as an Officer of the Watch (OOW) during assigned shifts, monitoring navigational instruments, weather conditions, and traffic to ensure safe vessel navigation.
• Navigation Support: Assist with voyage planning, chart corrections, and the use of navigational aids, ensuring compliance with international maritime regulations.
• Cargo Operations: Support the loading, stowage, and discharge of cargo, ensuring compliance with cargo handling plans and operational safety procedures.
• Safety & Security Inspections: Conduct routine safety checks and inspections of firefighting, life-saving, and emergency equipment to ensure all systems are in working order.
• Emergency Response: Actively participate in emergency drills and respond to incidents such as man-overboard, collision, or fire, following the ship's emergency protocols.
• Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Compliance: Adhere to international maritime safety and environmental regulations, promoting a safe and compliant working environment.
• Logbook & Record-Keeping: Accurately record navigational activities, cargo operations, and ship maintenance tasks, supporting compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Captain, Chief Officer, engineers, and crew to ensure smooth vessel operations and effective communication.
• Crew Supervision & Training: Assist in the training and supervision of crew members, supporting the development of junior personnel on board.
• Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Respond to operational challenges and provide real-time support for navigation, safety, and operational issues.
