Martide’s partners are seeking motivated and technically skilled Junior Electricians to join their engineering teams aboard various cargo ships and tankers. This role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the maintenance, repair, and operation of electrical systems critical to the safe and efficient functioning of the vessel. Working under the supervision of senior electricians and engineering officers, Junior Electricians play a key role in ensuring the reliability of shipboard electrical, control, and power systems.

Key responsibilities generally include:

  • Electrical System Maintenance: Support the inspection, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, and control systems.
    • Machinery Support: Assist in the electrical servicing of shipboard machinery, such as motors, generators, pumps, and automation systems.
      • Fault Diagnosis & Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve electrical faults, working with senior electricians to ensure minimal downtime for critical ship systems.
        • Equipment Inspections: Conduct routine checks on electrical panels, switchboards, and wiring systems to ensure operational integrity and safety compliance.
          • Safety Compliance: Adhere to maritime safety regulations and onboard safety protocols, especially when working with high-voltage equipment and confined spaces.
            • Preventative Maintenance: Assist in the implementation of scheduled maintenance plans, helping to prevent equipment failures and unplanned outages.
              • Inventory & Spare Parts Management: Support the tracking and replenishment of spare electrical components, ensuring key parts are available for routine and emergency repairs.
                • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of maintenance tasks, system inspections, and equipment repairs to support compliance and audits.
                  • Emergency Response: Participate in emergency drills and respond to emergency situations involving electrical failures or fire safety systems.
                    • Team Collaboration: Work closely with senior electricians, engineering officers, and deck crew to ensure efficient shipboard operations and minimize operational disruptions.
