Martide’s partners are seeking experienced and technically skilled IT Officers to join their teams aboard merchant vessels of all types. This role is critical to maintaining and supporting the vessel's IT infrastructure, communication systems, and onboard technology. The IT Officer is responsible for ensuring the continuous operation, security, and maintenance of IT networks, hardware, and software to support vessel operations, crew welfare, and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities generally include:

• IT System Maintenance & Support: Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair IT systems, including servers, workstations, and user devices, to ensure uninterrupted operations.
• Network Administration: Manage and support onboard network systems, including LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, and satellite communications, ensuring reliable connectivity for shipboard systems and crew welfare.
• Software Management: Install, update, and maintain software applications, ensuring compatibility and smooth operation across all shipboard devices.
• Cybersecurity & Data Protection: Implement and monitor cybersecurity protocols to protect the vessel's IT systems from cyber threats, ensuring compliance with international maritime cybersecurity standards.
• Communication Systems Support: Oversee and maintain communication systems such as email, satellite phones, and radio equipment, ensuring crew and vessel remain connected at all times.
• Hardware Management: Conduct routine checks, maintenance, and repairs of IT hardware, including printers, routers, switches, and storage devices.
• User Support & Training: Provide technical support to shipboard users, assisting crew with IT issues and offering guidance on the use of shipboard technology.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of system updates, maintenance activities, and equipment usage to support regulatory compliance and audits.
• Inventory & Spare Parts Management: Ensure the availability of essential IT hardware, software, and spare parts, working with the procurement team to maintain stock levels.
• Compliance & Regulatory Adherence: Ensure IT systems and practices are in line with maritime regulations, including compliance with the IMO's cybersecurity guidelines.
