Martide’s partners are seeking skilled and motivated Geophysicists to join their scientific research teams aboard research vessels. This role is critical to supporting geophysical surveys, data collection, and analysis for marine research and exploration. The Geophysicist will operate and maintain specialized geophysical equipment, process raw data, and provide detailed interpretations to support research objectives.

Key responsibilities generally include:

• Survey Planning & Execution: Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing geophysical surveys to collect seismic, magnetic, gravimetric, and bathymetric data.
• Data Collection & Processing: Operate and monitor geophysical equipment, such as multi-beam sonar, sub-bottom profilers, seismic streamers, and magnetometers, ensuring accurate and high-quality data collection.
• Data Analysis & Interpretation: Process, analyze, and interpret geophysical data to identify key features, geological structures, and subsurface characteristics.
• Equipment Operation & Maintenance: Calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain geophysical survey equipment, ensuring all systems are in optimal working condition.
• Research Reporting: Prepare technical reports, charts, and visualizations to communicate survey findings and support research project goals.
• Safety & Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and procedures related to shipboard operations, survey activities, and the handling of technical equipment.
• Software Utilization: Use industry-standard geophysical software for data processing, modeling, and visualization of survey results.
• Collaborative Research: Work closely with other scientists, engineers, and technical crew to support multi-disciplinary research activities and achieve project objectives.
• Documentation & Record-Keeping: Maintain detailed records of survey operations, equipment use, and data collection activities to support future analysis and compliance.
• Continuous Learning & Adaptation: Stay updated with the latest geophysical techniques, equipment, and industry developments to enhance research capabilities.
