Martide’s partners are seeking skilled and experienced Deck Fitters to join the deck crew aboard their vessels. This role is essential for maintaining the ship's structural integrity, deck equipment, and cargo handling systems. As a Deck Fitter, you will be responsible for fabricating, repairing, and maintaining mechanical components on the deck, including hatches, mooring equipment, gangways, and cargo-handling machinery.

Key responsibilities generally include:

• Fabricate, install, and repair structural and mechanical components on the ship's deck, including hatch covers, gangways, cranes, and deck fittings.
• Carry out welding, metal cutting, and fabrication tasks for structural and cargo-related components as required.
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance on deck equipment, such as mooring winches, lifeboat davits, cargo cranes, and lifting gear.
• Support deck crew during mooring, unmooring, and cargo handling operations by ensuring that mechanical systems are fully operational.
• Identify and repair faults in hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems linked to deck machinery and cargo-handling equipment.
• Ensure proper storage, use, and maintenance of tools, welding equipment, and consumables required for deck repairs.
• Follow the ship’s Planned Maintenance System (PMS) by documenting completed maintenance tasks and reporting any issues to senior officers.
• Adhere to maritime regulations, including ISM, SOLAS, and MARPOL, ensuring that all deck repair activities meet safety and operational standards.
• Participate in emergency drills, onboard training, and safety briefings related to cargo handling, firefighting, and emergency response procedures.
