Martide’s partners are seeking skilled and detail-oriented Fitters to join the engineering teams aboard their ships. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining the ship's mechanical integrity, supporting the smooth operation of propulsion, auxiliary, and deck machinery. The Fitter is responsible for fabricating, repairing, and maintaining essential components such as pipes, valves, pumps, and other mechanical parts critical to ship operations.

Key responsibilities generally include:

• Fabricate, install, repair, and maintain ship components, including pipes, valves, pumps, and auxiliary machinery.
• Carry out welding, cutting, and fitting tasks on a wide range of metal components used throughout the ship’s engineering and cargo handling systems.
• Support the Chief Engineer and 2nd Engineer with the installation, modification, and repair of mechanical parts, hydraulic systems, and structural elements.
• Conduct inspections of mechanical and structural components to identify issues and suggest necessary repairs or replacements.
• Perform emergency repairs to engines, pumps, and other essential systems to prevent downtime and ensure the safety of the ship.
• Follow maintenance schedules and document completed work, ensuring compliance with the ship’s Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
• Assist with routine maintenance of engine room equipment, deck machinery, and cargo handling systems as directed.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with international maritime regulations, including ISM and SOLAS, and adhere to shipboard safety protocols.
• Support safety drills, emergency response training, and risk assessments related to ship operations.
