Martide’s partners are seeking hardworking and experienced maritime professionals to fill various ranks and positions aboard fishing vessels and trawlers. These vessels are engaged in commercial fishing operations, often in challenging offshore environments. Crew members play an essential role in catching, processing, and preserving fish, while ensuring vessel maintenance, navigation, and compliance with safety regulations. Positions are available across deck, engine, and bridge departments, each requiring a strong work ethic, physical stamina, and a commitment to operational safety.

Key Responsibilities and Duties (varies by role and rank):

Deck Crew (Deckhands, Bosun, Fish Processors, Factory Crew)

  • Operate fishing gear, such as trawl nets, winches, and hauling equipment, to catch fish and seafood.
    • Sort, clean, and process fish for freezing, packaging, or storage in the ship's hold.
      • Handle, repair, and maintain fishing gear, nets, and deck equipment.
        • Operate and maintain deck machinery, including winches, cranes, and conveyor belts.
          • Support vessel berthing, mooring, and unmooring operations during port calls.
            • Carry out deck maintenance, including cleaning, rust removal, and painting.
              • Comply with safety procedures, wear PPE, and participate in emergency response drills.

                Engineering Crew (Wipers, Motormen, Engineers, Chief Engineer)

                • Operate, maintain, and repair ship propulsion, power generation, and hydraulic systems.
                  • Monitor and repair refrigeration and freezing systems used for preserving catch quality.
                    • Conduct preventive maintenance on winches, trawl gear, and fish processing equipment.
                      • Ensure compliance with MARPOL regulations regarding bilge water, waste management, and emissions control.
                        • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic failures to minimize downtime.
                          • Oversee the stock of essential spare parts, tools, and emergency repair materials.

                            Bridge Crew (Watch Officers, 2nd Officer, Chief Officer, Captain/Skipper)

                            • Oversee safe navigation, voyage planning, and watchkeeping in accordance with maritime regulations.
                              • Supervise fishing operations, including the deployment and retrieval of fishing gear.
                                • Monitor sonar, radar, and navigation systems to identify fish schools and optimize catch efficiency.
                                  • Ensure vessel stability and proper stowage of fish holds and freezer storage.
                                    • Supervise vessel berthing, anchoring, and port entry operations.
                                      • Oversee compliance with international fishing regulations, such as quotas, bycatch limits, and fishing licenses.
                                        • Conduct safety briefings, risk assessments, and emergency response drills for the crew.

                                          General Responsibilities (All Ranks and Positions)

                                          • Follow health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
                                            • Participate in emergency drills, including firefighting, rescue, and man-overboard procedures.
                                              • Handle the physical demands of working long shifts in harsh offshore weather conditions.
                                                • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in both the working and living quarters of the vessel.
                                                  • Foster teamwork, accountability, and professionalism to ensure smooth fishing and processing operations.
                                                    • Adhere to maritime laws, fishing regulations, and the ship's safety management system (SMS).
