Martide’s partners are seeking skilled and experienced Excavator Drivers to support cargo operations aboard their cargo ships. This role involves the safe and efficient operation of onboard excavators to load, unload, and reposition bulk cargo such as coal, grain, ore, and other loose materials. As an Excavator Driver, you will play a key role in ensuring that cargo handling operations are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with maritime standards.

Key responsibilities generally include:

• Operate excavators to load, unload, and reposition cargo efficiently in accordance with cargo handling plans.
• Handle bulk cargo, such as coal, grain, and minerals, ensuring safe movement, proper stowage, and minimal product loss.
• Follow instructions from the Chief Officer or Bosun regarding cargo handling schedules, methods, and priorities.
• Conduct pre-use checks and inspections of excavators and related equipment, identifying and reporting any defects or maintenance needs.
• Ensure all excavation work adheres to maritime safety protocols, including the proper use of PPE and adherence to onboard hazard management procedures.
• Assist in the maintenance and cleaning of excavator machinery, keeping equipment in operational condition.
• Monitor weather, sea conditions, and ship movements that could impact the safe operation of cargo handling equipment.
• Support the deck crew in general cargo operations as required, including securing loads and assisting with mooring operations.
