Martide’s partners are looking for motivated and eager Engine Cadets to join the engineering teams aboard their vessels. This entry-level role is designed to provide hands-on training and practical experience in shipboard mechanical systems, engine operations, and technical maintenance. As an Engine Cadet, you will work closely with experienced engineers, gaining valuable skills and knowledge that serve as a pathway toward becoming a certified Marine Engineer.

Key responsibilities generally include:

• Assist with the operation, maintenance, and repair of the ship’s main engines, generators, boilers, and auxiliary machinery.
• Support engineers in daily inspections of engine room equipment, identifying faults and reporting them to senior engineers.
• Participate in the maintenance of pumps, compressors, and hydraulic systems as part of the ship’s preventative maintenance schedule.
• Assist in engine start-up, shutdown, and emergency operations under the guidance of the Chief Engineer or 2nd Engineer.
• Perform cleaning, lubrication, and general upkeep of engine room equipment, ensuring all systems are in optimal condition.
• Support in managing spare parts, consumables, and essential supplies used for repairs and maintenance.
• Attend and participate in shipboard training programs, technical workshops, and emergency response drills.
• Complete training logs, daily records, and assessments required for career progression toward certification.
