Martide’s partners are seeking motivated and technically minded Electrical Cadets to join their engineering teams aboard a variety of merchant ships. This entry-level role provides hands-on training and practical experience in shipboard electrical systems, equipment maintenance, and fault diagnostics. The position offers a clear pathway for those aspiring to become an Electrical Officer, providing mentorship from senior engineering staff and exposure to the daily operations of an international cargo ship.

Key responsibilities generally include:

• Assist the Electrical Officer with inspections, maintenance, and repairs of shipboard electrical equipment, including switchboards, generators, and power distribution systems.
• Support routine maintenance of control systems, motors, alarms, and lighting systems across the ship.
• Participate in troubleshooting and diagnosing faults in electrical circuits, identifying issues, and assisting in their resolution.
• Monitor, test, and calibrate electrical and electronic equipment to ensure proper functionality and compliance with maritime regulations.
• Assist with emergency repairs to restore power and critical systems in case of failure.
• Follow shipboard safety procedures and attend safety drills, emergency response training, and technical workshops.
• Maintain accurate records of training activities, progress logs, and completed tasks as required for certification.
• Support senior engineers and electricians with general engineering tasks as directed.
