Martide’s partners are looking for hardworking and motivated Deckboys to join the deck crew aboard their vessels. This entry-level role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on maritime experience and develop essential skills for a career at sea. The Deckboy supports the Bosun, Chief Officer, and senior deck crew in a variety of daily tasks related to ship maintenance, cargo operations, and general deck work.

Key responsibilities generally include:

• Assist the deck crew with daily cleaning, maintenance, and general upkeep of the ship’s deck, hull, and superstructure.
• Support the mooring and unmooring of the ship during port calls, handling ropes, lines, and winches as directed by senior crew.
• Participate in the loading, stowage, and securing of cargo under the guidance of the Bosun or Chief Officer.
• Carry out painting, rust removal, and surface treatment tasks to maintain the ship's exterior.
• Perform inspections and maintenance of deck equipment, tools, and lifesaving appliances.
• Assist in the operation of shipboard lifting equipment, including cranes and hoists, under supervision.
• Participate in safety drills and follow shipboard safety protocols at all times.
• Maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure it is used correctly during all tasks.
• Follow instructions from senior crew members and support other departments as required.
