Martide’s partners are seeking skilled and experienced Crane Operators to join their cargo operations teams aboard cargo ships. As a Crane Operator, you will play a crucial role in the safe, efficient, and timely handling of cargo during loading and unloading operations at ports. This role is essential to the smooth flow of goods and materials on and off the vessel.

Key responsibilities generally include:

• Operate shipboard cranes and lifting equipment to load, unload, and stow cargo in accordance with loading plans and instructions from the Chief Officer or Cargo Supervisor.
• Perform pre-use checks and daily inspections of cranes, lifting gear, and attachments to identify potential faults or maintenance needs.
• Follow cargo handling procedures to prevent damage to goods, the ship, and port facilities.
• Ensure all crane operations are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with international maritime regulations and company policies.
• Communicate with deck crew, cargo supervisors, and dockworkers to ensure precise movement of cargo and alignment with cargo plans.
• Adjust crane speeds, lifting angles, and loads to safely accommodate different types of cargo, including containers, heavy equipment, and bulk materials.
• Monitor weather and sea conditions that may affect crane operations, adjusting work accordingly to ensure safety.
• Assist with the maintenance and cleaning of crane equipment, cables, and lifting accessories.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or operational issues to the Chief Officer or Cargo Supervisor.
