Martide’s partners are seeking experienced maritime professionals to fill various ranks and positions aboard container ships. Crew members are responsible for ensuring the safe navigation, cargo handling, and maintenance of the ship’s machinery and systems. Positions are available in the deck, engine, and bridge departments, each playing a critical role in ensuring smooth operations, vessel stability, and timely port calls.

Key Responsibilities and Duties (varies by role and rank):

Deck Crew (Able Seafarers, Deckhands, Bosun)

• Assist in the safe loading, securing, and discharge of containerized cargo using lashing equipment, twist locks, and stacking cones.
• Support cargo operations by handling lashing, unlashing, and securing devices according to the vessel's cargo plan.
• Conduct visual inspections of cargo securing gear and report any signs of wear or damage.
• Assist with mooring and unmooring operations, ensuring proper handling of mooring lines and safe berthing procedures.
• Carry out deck maintenance, such as cleaning, painting, rust removal, and repair work.
• Follow health and safety protocols, wear PPE, and participate in emergency response drills.

Engineering Crew (Wipers, Motormen, Engineers, Chief Engineer)

• Operate, maintain, and repair the ship's propulsion, power generation, and auxiliary systems.
• Monitor and maintain reefer (refrigerated container) systems, ensuring correct temperature control for perishable cargo.
• Conduct regular inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on critical systems to prevent delays or breakdowns.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including MARPOL rules on emissions, bilge water, and waste management.
• Supervise the maintenance of cranes, lifting equipment, and power units essential for cargo handling.
• Oversee spare parts inventory, ensuring timely procurement and availability of critical components.

Bridge Crew (Watch Officers, 2nd Officer, Chief Officer, Captain)

• Oversee safe navigation, passage planning, and watchkeeping to ensure compliance with international maritime regulations.
• Supervise container loading, stowage, and discharge operations, ensuring cargo stability and proper weight distribution.
• Ensure compliance with the vessel's Cargo Securing Manual and container stowage plans.
• Supervise ballasting and de-ballasting operations to maintain vessel stability and optimize fuel efficiency.
• Coordinate berthing, anchoring, and pilotage operations with port authorities, pilots, and terminal operators.
• Conduct onboard safety and security drills, including emergency response, fire, and rescue drills.
• Oversee compliance with ISM, MARPOL, SOLAS, and other maritime regulations and company safety management systems (SMS).

General Responsibilities (All Ranks and Positions)

• Follow health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols, ensuring a culture of operational excellence.
• Participate in emergency drills for firefighting, rescue, evacuation, and containment of incidents.
• Foster teamwork, accountability, and professionalism on board to ensure efficient vessel operations.
• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and safe working conditions in all living and operational areas.
• Adhere to the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code to maintain shipboard security.
• Adapt to life at sea, including the physical and mental demands of extended periods of work.
