Martide’s partners are seeking skilled and experienced maritime professionals to fill various ranks and positions aboard container feeder vessels. These vessels play a vital role in the global supply chain, transporting containerized cargo between regional ports and larger transshipment hubs. Crew members are responsible for ensuring the safe loading, securing, and discharge of containerized cargo, as well as maintaining vessel stability, machinery, and navigational safety. Positions are available across deck, engine, and bridge departments, each playing an essential role in supporting the smooth operation of the vessel.

Key Responsibilities and Duties (varies by role and rank):

Deck Crew (Able Seafarers, Deckhands, Bosun)

  • Assist in the safe loading, securing, and discharge of containerized cargo using lashing equipment, twist locks, and stacking cones.
    • Support cargo operations by handling lashing, unlashing, and securing devices according to the vessel's cargo plan.
      • Conduct visual inspections of cargo securing gear and report any signs of wear or damage.
        • Assist with mooring and unmooring operations, ensuring proper handling of lines and safe berthing procedures.
          • Carry out deck maintenance, such as cleaning, painting, rust removal, and repair work.
            • Comply with safety protocols, wear PPE, and participate in emergency response drills and rescue operations.

              Engineering Crew (Wipers, Motormen, Engineers, Chief Engineer)

              • Operate, maintain, and repair the ship’s propulsion, power generation, and auxiliary systems.
                • Monitor and manage the ship’s reefer (refrigerated container) monitoring system and support reefer cargo requirements.
                  • Conduct regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of critical machinery.
                    • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, such as MARPOL standards for emissions, bilge water, and waste management.
                      • Maintain and repair cargo handling equipment, cranes, and lifting devices as needed.
                        • Maintain an inventory of spare parts, consumables, and emergency repair tools.

                          Bridge Crew (Watch Officers, 2nd Officer, Chief Officer, Captain)

                          • Oversee navigation, passage planning, and safe watchkeeping operations.
                            • Supervise container loading and discharge operations, ensuring proper cargo stowage and vessel stability.
                              • Ensure compliance with cargo securing manuals and vessel-specific cargo plans.
                                • Supervise ballasting and de-ballasting to maintain vessel stability during cargo operations.
                                  • Oversee mooring, anchoring, and pilotage operations, working with port authorities, pilots, and shore personnel.
                                    • Conduct shipboard safety and security drills, including emergency response, firefighting, and man-overboard exercises.
                                      • Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations (ISM, MARPOL, SOLAS) and the ship’s safety management system (SMS).

                                        General Responsibilities (All Ranks and Positions)

                                        • Comply with all maritime health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and protocols.
                                          • Participate in emergency drills for firefighting, rescue, evacuation, and containment.
                                            • Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and operational excellence.
                                              • Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and safety in all living and working areas.
                                                • Follow the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code to ensure vessel security.
                                                  • Handle the physical and mental demands of life at sea, including extended periods of work under changing weather conditions.
