Martide’s partners are looking for dedicated and experienced Chief Cooks to oversee the daily operations of the galley aboard various merchant vessels including cargo, passenger, and cruise ships. As the leader of the kitchen team, the Chief Cook is responsible for planning menus, managing food preparation, ensuring hygiene and sanitation standards, and overseeing the kitchen crew. This role is critical to maintaining the morale and well-being of crew members and passengers by providing nutritious, well-prepared meals throughout the voyage.

Key responsibilities generally include:

• Oversee the preparation, cooking, and service of meals for crew, officers, and passengers (where applicable).
• Plan and design daily menus that offer variety, nutritional balance, and taste, while managing food costs and minimizing waste.
• Supervise, train, and support the galley team, ensuring efficient workflows and adherence to shipboard protocols.
• Ensure compliance with maritime food safety and hygiene standards, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of the galley and food storage areas.
• Oversee the ordering, receipt, and storage of provisions, conducting inventory checks to ensure stock availability for the entire voyage.
• Respond to dietary requirements, food allergies, and special requests, ensuring all crew and passenger needs are met.
• Conduct inspections and audits of galley operations to ensure health, hygiene, and quality standards are upheld.
• Collaborate with ship management to ensure seamless meal service during peak hours, special events, or changes in voyage schedules.
