Martide’s partners are seeking dedicated and experienced maritime professionals to fill various ranks and positions aboard bulk carrier vessels. Crew members are responsible for the safe navigation, cargo handling, and maintenance of the vessel. Positions available range from deckhands and engineers to officers and captains, each playing a vital role in ensuring safe and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities and Duties (varies by role and rank):
Deck Crew (Able Seafarers, Deckhands, Bosun)
- Assist with the loading, stowage, and discharge of bulk cargo using cranes, grabs, and conveyor systems.
- Conduct cargo inspections to identify signs of contamination, damage, or excess moisture.
- Carry out deck maintenance, including cleaning, painting, and rust removal.
- Assist with securing hatches, maintaining hatch covers, and ensuring watertight integrity.
- Handle mooring and unmooring operations in port.
- Follow onboard safety procedures, wear PPE, and participate in emergency response drills.
Engineering Crew (Wipers, Motormen, Engineers, Chief Engineer)
- Operate, monitor, and maintain the ship's propulsion, power generation, and auxiliary systems.
- Conduct routine maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement timely repairs to ensure vessel readiness.
- Monitor fuel and lubricant consumption, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
- Comply with environmental regulations, including waste disposal and emissions controls.
- Oversee the inventory and storage of critical engine spare parts and consumables.
Bridge Crew (Watch Officers, 2nd Officer, Chief Officer, Captain)
- Oversee navigation, voyage planning, and safe passage in accordance with international regulations.
- Monitor and control loading and unloading operations to ensure stability and proper cargo distribution.
- Conduct watchkeeping duties and maintain a continuous watch on radar, AIS, and navigational equipment.
- Ensure compliance with cargo handling procedures, draft restrictions, and port regulations.
- Supervise mooring, anchoring, and pilotage operations during port calls.
- Lead safety briefings, risk assessments, and emergency drills as required by ISM regulations.
General Responsibilities (All Ranks and Positions)
- Comply with all maritime safety, environmental, and security regulations.
- Participate in emergency drills and exercises to maintain a high level of preparedness.
- Follow company policies and international maritime laws regarding health, safety, and environmental protection.
- Foster a culture of teamwork and cooperation to support efficient vessel operations.
- Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and safety in all working and living areas.
- Adapt to the demands of long voyages, changing weather conditions, and time spent at sea.
