Martide’s partners are seeking skilled and motivated Assistant Electricians to join their engineering team aboard various merchant ships. This role is crucial in maintaining the ship’s electrical systems and ensuring the smooth operation of onboard equipment. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Chief Electrician and other engineering staff to address electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair needs.

Key responsibilities generally include:

• Assist in the maintenance, inspection, and repair of electrical systems and equipment, including generators, motors, lighting systems, and communication devices.
• Support the Chief Electrician in conducting routine inspections and diagnosing faults in electrical components.
• Ensure the proper functioning of power distribution systems and electronic control panels throughout the vessel.
• Perform wiring, soldering, and cable management tasks as needed.
• Participate in preventive maintenance schedules to minimize system downtime and ensure operational readiness.
• Maintain compliance with all maritime safety standards, including the safe handling of electrical tools and equipment.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to address any technical challenges during voyages.
• Contribute to the upkeep of detailed maintenance logs and technical documentation.
